Book signing at the AHA meeting

Join me at the American Heart Association Meetings in Orlando later this month. I will be signing books at the Elsevier booth (#1419) on Monday from noon to 2 PM and hope to see you there. Maybe you have a question you have always wanted to ask me -- here is your chance!

The new Echo Companion Series will be coming out including:
  • Intraoperative Echocardiography (Don Oxorn, editor)
  • Echocardiography in Heart Failure (edited by Martin St John Sutton and Susan Wiegers)
  • Echocardiography in Congenital Heart Disease (edited by Mark Lewin and Karen Stout)
  • Advanced Approaches in Echocardiography (edited by Linda Gillam along with me)

These are very practical guides with bulleted text, lots of illustrations and tips for using echocardiography more effectively in your clinical practice.

See you there,
Catherine

3D echocardiography in your practice?

As 3D echocardiography systems become more available, I would be interested in hearing from my readers about how they use 3D echocardiography in their day to day clinical practice. Is it useful in the outpatient echocardiography setting?  Is transthoracic 3D easy to integrate into the standard exam? How about with TEE; is 3D something you now routinely use on every patient?

Post your comments here -- include details about your type of practice and when you find 3D echocardiography to be helpful or not.

Looking forward to hearing your comments.

Watch for the new Otto Echo Companion Series this fall

There were lots of exciting presentations at the American Society of Echocardiography meetings in Montreal last week.  Although it rained a lot, Montreal is also a great city for sightseeing!

Be sure to watch for four new echocardiography books that will be out next fall:
  • Echocardiography in Congenital Heart Disease (Lewin and Stout)
  • Echocardiography in Heart Failure (St. John Sutton and Wiegers)
  • Intraoperative  Echocardiography (Oxorn)
  • Advanced Approaches in Echocardiography (Gillam and Otto)
These books were developed in response to reader requests for concise information tailored to their clinical practice.

Comments about any of my books or about the online supplements at Expert Consult are greatly valued -- you can participate by providing feedback!

Looking forward to hearing from you, Catherine

New Edition of the Echocardiography Review Guide

The 2nd Edition of The Echocardiography Review Guide is out! As you know, this book goes along with The Textbook of Clinical Echocardiogaphy and the new edition has been updated to match the 4th edition of the Textbook.  The concise bulletted text and the illustrations are intented to help you with mastery of the fundamentals of echocardiography.

Rosario Freeman, MD; Director of the Echocardiography Laboratory at the University of Washington in Seattle, joined Becky Schawaegler and myself in writing this edition.  The three of us wrote all new multiple choice questions for every chapter, along with detailed explanations of the correct and incorrect answers.

We hope this book will be useful to those of you who are new to echocardiography and to those seeking a quick update. Be sure to give us feedback on what features are most helpful, any suggestions for improvement and what you would like to see in the future.

Best wishes,
Catherine Otto
